Fight back in the war against the adult industry!
On December 4th, 2020 The New York Times published propaganda from a religious group who’s goal is to ban all porn in an article written by Nicolas Kristof.
The New York Times directly pushed Visa and MasterCard to ban payments to the hundreds of thousands of workers and small businesses that make a living from adult industry sites like ModelHub. Despite MindGeek making changes, Visa and MasterCard banned those payments anyway.
In February 2021, MindGeek made sweeping moderation changes that represent some of the strongest moderation of any user generated content site in any industry. Despite this, it appears that Visa, and MasterCard still are refusing to lift their sex worker payment ban.
We must fight back against Visa and MasterCard’s persecution of sex workers! If credit card companies are allowed to ban payments to workers based on religious groups propaganda, they will not stop at banning only MindGeek!
Calling your congress people is the most effective way to inform them on how the Visa/MasterCard sex worker payment ban harms adult industry workers and small businesses!
You can help right now by using the link below to find your U.S. Representative and two Senators!
What should I say?
Before you call, think about how this impacts you! Remember to ask your representative to look into Visa, MasterCard.
When you call your Senators and House Representative you may need to make a selection to speak to a member of their staff. They are there to listen to issues that impact you!
When you speak to them or leave a message you should do your best to make it personal! Some ideas to help and example calls are below.
- Visa MasterCard targeted adult industry workers in a discriminatory way.
- They can and will ban other sites like OnlyFans if we do not stop them.
- You can read articles on the Visa/MasterCard changes from NBC, Salon, and VICE and on our site here.
- You can learn about the extremist groups behind these attacks here.
Visa and MasterCard’s unequal treatment by targeting consensual sex workers will harm people that I care about. This attack is based on biased propaganda, and pushes workers into risker situations. This will burden health services, and taxpayers like me while disproportionately hurting minority individuals. Please speak out and investigate Visa and MasterCard’s persecution of sex workers!
I am an adult industry worker who income after Visa and MasterCard banned payments to MindGeek websites.
I have relied on income from these sites to survive during the pandemic, and am concerned that the extremist group behind these changes will continue to come after me, and harm my industry with bills like the recent SISEA. Past laws like SESTA/FOSTA harmed hundreds of thousands of workers, and pushed some to riskier work where a disproportionate number of black, and/or trans workers are arrested or subject to violence.
Please work with sex worker organizations like SWOP, FSC, and ailaa when considering bills that will impact sex workers. Please investigate Visa and MasterCard’s discriminatory ban on payments to me. Thank you.
I am an adult industry worker harmed by prior bills passed by congress. I am also worried about Visa and MasterCard targeting sex workers by banning payments to adult industry workers.
I rely on income from sites they may ban next and worry the extremist group behind these changes will continue to come after me.
Past laws like SESTA/FOSTA harmed hundreds of thousands of adult industry workers and pushed some to riskier work where a disproportionate number of black, and/or trans workers are arrested and assualted, or killed.
Please consider adult industry organizations like SWOP, FSC, and ailaa when considering bills that could harm us, and investigate Visa and MasterCard’s discriminatory ban on payments to adult industry workers before they take away income I need to survive during the pandemic. Thank you.
What can we do next?
Many organizations are working hard to keep an eye on upcoming bills and to undo the harmful changes from Visa and MasterCard so be sure to keep an up with us on twitter.
Once we have actionable items to address with congress, we will be pushing those requests here!
